Beyond Standard Model searches: direct dark matter detection

The Standard Model (SM) is the most successful theory to describe the fundamental particles and their interactions at present. Yet there are many aspects, for example, the nature of the dark matter or the hierarchy problem, which the SM cannot explain. Thus, there are searches for beyond Standard Model (BSM) phenomena in many high-energy experiments.

Apart from collider experiments, there is a plethora of experiments that look for a signature of dark matter (DM) particles. These experiments try to look for DM signatures in rare event detectors, such as using metastable liquids, cryogenic quantum sensors, scintillator crystals etc. We are trying to build an experiment to detect dark matter at Jaduguda Underground Science Laboratory (JUSL), SINP, using cryogenic quantum sensors such as transition edge sensors.
